We all suffer from those nasty spills and accidents. You'll Say WOW has compiled a list of common stains and the best way to defeat them using common household items.

Basic Rules of Stain Removal
1. Attend to spill promptly.
2. Dilute with cold water and sop up excess.
3. Repeat for as long as you are achieving a positive result. Don’t scrub! Avoid bleach products.
4. Don’t over wet with solvents (eg turps and dry cleaning fluid), they can damage the backing.

If you can’t remove a fresh stain, keep it moist by covering with a damp towel until we can attend to it. Not allowing it to set can make it easier to remove.

Warning: NEVER use any product that contains bleach, as it will remove colour!

Cordial	Can be difficult	If you are to get it out, you must attend to it instantly by diluting it with cold water. Pour on, soak up and repeat until the stain is out.	You'll Say WOW remove most cordial stains.
Coffee	Medium	Apply a solution of ammonia and soak up, then a solution of white vinegar. Repeat.	You'll Say WOW remove coffee stains every day.

Soft Drink	Medium	Dilute and soak up. If it prevails, use vinegar first then ammonia, and alternate until gone or until there is no more improvement.	You'll Say WOW can remove the residue for you.

Nail Polish	Hard	Nail Polish Remover should be liberally applied and rinsed out. Repeat while effective.	You'll Say WOW can remove the residue for you.

Ink or Biro	Extremely Hard	Methylated spirits should remove entirely if attended to before it dries.	A tough one when dry. We can usually improve it.

Paint (oil based)	Medium to Hard	Mineral turps should be used to dilute; soak up and re-apply until paint is all gone. (Too much turps will damage the carpet backing)	If stain prevails, call in You'll Say WOW.
Rust	Extremely Hard	Lemon juice can remove fresh rust marks.	You'll Say WOW can treat old or stubborn rust marks.
Pot Plant Stains	Easy if Fresh, Hard if old	White vinegar rinse can remove many pot plant stains. If it is an old one, the mildew may have started to rot the carpet.	You'll Say WOW have a special treatment to remove water browning.
Red Wine	Medium	Apply salt and allow to dry, use a white vinegar solution. Rinse then use an ammonia solution. Repeat while effective.	You'll Say WOW can remove the residue for you.
Urine	Hard	When fresh use an ammonia solution. Rinse, then a white vinegar solution.	If it prevails call us. The acid in some urine and vomit can burn your carpet.
Vomit	Medium	Depends on the food. Most human vomit will clean up with a detergent mix. Animal vomit of regurgitated worm pills or heavily coloured food can be extremely difficult. Wood Stains	The Worst	Prevention is the key. Put plastic or some other safe material under all the wooden legs, such as tables and bookshelves, etc. Once this stain is there, there is nothing you can do, except ring You'll Say WOW.	Most times You'll Say WOW can improve the appearance and sometimes remove completely.
Tomato Sauce	Easy	Rinse with dishwashing liquid or strong soap. If it remains use ammonia, rinse, then use white vinegar. Repeat if necessary.	You'll Say WOW can remove the residue for you.
Shoe Polish	Medium	Methylated spirits or dry cleaning fluid are your best allies. Treat it while fresh. If allowed to remain, can become very difficult.	You'll Say WOW can remove the residue for you.
Fat	Easy	Hot water and a good cloth or sponge for soaking it up. If you don’t have “GO” some Sard soap or diluted dishwashing liquid will help.	Ask us for a bottle of “GO” It’s a great way to treat most stains when they occur.
Wax	Hard	Coloured wax has highly concentrated dye in it. It is best to refer to You'll Say WOW if you have a wax problem.	Removing the wax is relatively easy. The dye will need our expertise.
Crayon	Hard	Crayon and Textas should be banned from carpeted areas. Methylated spirits or dry cleaning fluid may work.	You'll Say WOW may have the answer call for more information.
